Jamila Woods on Chicago Mag Cover

The new April issue of Chicago Mag will spotlight Jamila along with five other local poets (E'mon Lauren, Natalie Rose Richardson, Ciara Miller, Britteney Black Rose Kapri, and Raych Jackson) featured in the second volume of The BreakBeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop anthology series that Woods co-edited.

The second volume is titled Black Girl Magic. “The first book was about how hip-hop influenced the craft of poetry,” says Woods. “This edition is about highlighting black women within that tradition.”
