Kipp Stone Releases title track from upcoming ep, “Faygo Baby”

Kipp Stone announces new EP Faygo Baby & drops title track featuring Chuck Strangers

Kipp Stone has been a little quiet lately, but he’s back with a new track, “Faygo Baby” featuring Chuck Strangers - a member of the East Coast hip-hop collective, ProEra. This track is a little different from what we’re used to hearing from Kipp. Rather than focusing on the negative aspects of his upbringing, Faygo Baby educates listeners on some of the more pleasing memories that led to his love for Faygo. He does a wonderful job of reminiscing on his childhood and his vulnerability on the mic continues to amaze me.

Although Kipp is reflecting on himself, the beliefs and thoughts raised in the song can be generalized to many people from poverty stricken backgrounds, “No, I’ve not been diagnosed, maybe call it negligence / Mama tryna feed and clothe, maybe I’m too sensitive”. This bar really stood out to me - born to conquer any anxiety, fear or depression in church rather than speak to a therapist is very common in the minority community. I’m excited for more storytelling and conscious lyricism from the East Cleveland rapper/producer.

Faygo Baby - EP will be available May 11th, featuring production from Statik Selektah on the previously released “Manic”, underground stalwart 6th Sense, D’Artizt, and Kipp Stone himself. Check out the track list below!
